Job Summary
Under close supervision, administer and score neuropsychological test batteries evaluating intellectual, academic, neuropsychological, behavioral, and emotional status in order to assist the neuropsychologist, and other medical professionals in diagnostic and treatment decisions. Maintains the library of test equipment and orders materials as necessary.
Essential Functions:
Administers and scores intellectual, academic, neuropsychological, behavioral, and psychological tests. (20%)
Provides a written summary of the patient's behavior during testing, including interactions with the patient's family or peers that may be observed incidentally. (15%)
Maintains test equipment and order forms as necessary in order to eliminate any interruption in the provision of services by the neuropsychology service. (15%)
Promotes positive interpersonal (customer) relationships with fellow employees, physicians, patients and visitors. (15%)
Treats these individuals with courtesy, dignity, empathy and respect; consistently displays courteous and respectful verbal and non-verbal communications. (15%)
Adheres to, complies with and demonstrates support for the mission and values of Denver Health. (10%)
Ensures confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment by not sharing information learned on the job, except when necessary in the performance of the job responsibilities or to improve a patient's care. (10%)
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years in the field or in a related area, preferred.
Licenses:
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possess knowledge of standardized cognitive, academic, neuropsychological, and psychological test administration and scoring.
Demonstrates sensitivity and compassion in dealing with patients with acquired brain injuries, neurological illness, dementia, and/or psychiatric illness that have led to a referral for a neuropsychological evaluation.
Demonstrates knowledge and applicability of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflecting the patient's status and interpreting appropriate cultural information of the patient(s) to whom care/services is being delivered/provided.
Ability to observe and document a patient's behavior. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Ability to demonstrate and maintain clinical competency and practice within the scope of work.
Capable of operating software applications including: computerized neuropsychological tests, test scoring software, email, databases and Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of EPIC.
