Contra Costa Health Services – a team of over 4,600 employees who protect the health and safety of all people in the county, especially those at higher risk for health problems – is working to revolutionize behavioral health crisis response with a new innovative program called Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime (A3). 

When someone experiences a crisis – a fire, crime or medical emergency – they call 911 with the expectation of getting immediate emergency services. However, when that emergency is a behavioral health crisis, there is currently no timely and clinically appropriate response. A3 addresses this enormous need by making behavioral health part of the emergency response system to provide timely and appropriate behavioral health crisis services to anyone in Contra Costa County anywhere at anytime.

To make our ambitious vision a reality, we are recruiting a team of dedicated Mental Health Clinical Specialists to provide field-based mental health crisis intervention and connect people in crisis and their families to services and peer support. A3 is committed to building a team that reflects the ethnic, linguistic and cultural diversity of our county.

Remote work may be a possibility for some positions. Schedule may include four 10-hour shifts each week, and we offer differential pay for evening hours.

Minimum Qualifications:  

• Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicles Operator's License.
• Possession of one of the following professional licenses is required. Either:
  • A valid license issued by the State of California, Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC); or
  • A valid license as a Psychologist issued by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Psychology.

Substitution for License:

Either: Possession of a Master's degree in psychology or closely related behavioral science field from an accredited college or university, and registration with the State of California, Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC); or possession of a Doctorate degree in Psychology from an accredited college, university or other educational institution accredited by the California State Board of Psychology.

As a condition of continued employment, incumbents hired with either an AMFT, ASW, APCC or a Doctorate in Psychology must obtain status as a LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or a licensed Psychologist, respectively, issued by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Psychology, within the time periods established by the licensing agencies.
