ASSOCIATE MEDICAL DIRECTOR - AMBULATORY CARE

$248,398.56 - $301,930.08 Annually

Contra Costa Health Services is seeking an Association Medical Director - Ambulatory Care. Under direction, the incumbent will assist the Medical Director in planning, organizing, directing and providing senior executive leadership in assigned program areas, which may include, but are not limited to, the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers, Detention Health, Behavioral Health, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Public Health, Contra Costa Family Medicine Residency, or Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP). In addition, the successful candidate will recommend, develop, implement and evaluate goals, objectives, policies and procedures for assigned program.

The Associate Medical Director will work closely with the Ambulatory Medical Director and other ambulatory leadership in all aspects of ambulatory patient care and operations.

Duties to include:

• Overseeing the delivery of quality care by primary care and specialty care providers in the ambulatory environment
• Serving as the lead physician for matters related to the safety and quality of ambulatory patient care
• Partnering with quality department to develop our annual safety plan focused on improving outcomes and reducing harm
• Working with the local Clinic Service Manager (CSM), optimizing space and staff in each clinical site and a balancing of operational hours that is patient centered
• Working with the local CSM, to ensure that clinical blocks are effectively and efficiently used
• Working with the local CSM, to ensure safety and infection control practices are in place and that the clinical site is in optimal regulatory status
• Innovating for ad hoc needs such as immunization clinics and/or matters related to pandemic preparedness and response
• Working with local nursing, medical staff leadership and our labor partners to collaborate on problem-solving and crucial conversations pertaining to the above duties
• Working with plant/facilities and operations to ensure adequate supplies and that all equipment is in working order
• Supervision and oversight of various staff members
• Supporting the health home teams, supporting ambulatory care redesign (ACR) objectives and reporting out to ACR
• Triaging quality of care concerns and escalating as appropriate through leadership structures and the AMD
• Helping innovation efforts to create a new primary care health home team model of care
• Matching patient demand with provider productivity

Minimum Qualifications

License Required:  Possession of a valid physician license issued by the Medical Board of California, and a Board Certification in the specialty applicable for the assignment.

Experience:   Three years of full-time experience, or its equivalent, in the practice of medicine. One year in a responsible administrative capacity applicable for the assignment is desirable.
