The Marriage and Family Therapist provides Mental Health services to the veteran population enrolled at the Clearlake Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Services include provision of high quality psychotherapy services, including evidence-based psychotherapies; establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals in collaboration throughout treatment regarding clinical, ethical and legal issues. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Screen, triage and/or conduct an intake evaluation on the veteran and/or family, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the veteran, family members and significant others. Screen the veteran and/or the family member to determine the appropriate treatment and level of care for the veteran and/or the family. Conduct an intake evaluation to develop a comprehensive understanding of the veteran's issues, including a DSM IV diagnosis. Work within the interdisciplinary treatment team to develop a treatment plan with the veteran. Develop the treatment plan and set achievable treatment goals with the veteran/family. Provide individual, group, couples/family therapy as deemed appropriate by the treatment team. Make rapid assessments and developing crisis management plans for admission to mental health inpatient programs. Review the progress notes from the other providers to accurately determine the strengths and limitations of each veteran being referred for mental health services. Educate the veteran, the family and the team on all the options available to them and collaborate with the veteran and family on the preferred option. Attend all appropriate staff meetings (interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, Mental Health Social Work staff meetings, MHC staff meetings, other committees as appropriate, etc.) and perform other duties as required. Collaborate in the performance improvement processes and comply with performance measures as required by the VA for the specific population and/or program.
