This vacancy announcement is for an evening shift for a Therapy Assistant position with the Behavioral Health Service of the VA Eastern Kansas HCS located at the Leavenworth campus. In these roles, you will function as a Therapy Assistant. Therapy Assistants function as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team for veterans in the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program. Incumbent serves as a primary care provider during assigned shift, which may include weekends. Major duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Collects specimens from patients for drug and alcohol analysis. Conducts comprehensive orientation to each veteran when admitted. Serves as primary triage for the veteran during the treatment program. May conduct groups related to Domiciliary education/procedures Conduct room inspections and security rounds for the Domiciliary Serve as a liaison between treatment teams and other providers Inform clinical and administrative staff on a regular basis about special patient care problems and areas of rehabilitation needs that are currently not being addressed Work closely with nursing staff assigned on off tours of duty to assess special patient care problems Work Schedule: Evening Shift: 3:30 pm - Midnight Compressed/Flexible: Not available Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
