The incumbent serves as the Program Coordinator for a major specialty treatment program of the Behavioral Health Service Line within the Gulf Coast VA Healthcare System; this system is comprised of multiple divisions across three states. The position serves as Program Coordinator in a wide variety of tasks, duties and responsibilities. Responsibilities are complex in scope, involving management of behavioral health clinic programming and professional staff from a variety of disciplines. The Behavioral Health clinic is customer-service oriented, meeting a variety of emotional, psychological, psychiatric, social, vocational, interpersonal and behavioral needs of the Veterans served. These services contribute significantly to the level of health care provided by this agency. Decisions are made exercising moderately wide latitude and independent judgment. Along with a customer service orientation, the Program Coordinator focuses strongly on monitoring performance indicators to maximize access to care and program efficiency. Additional focus includes quality improvement and personnel management. The incumbent has broad program management responsibilities, which include operation and management of key clinical, training, and administrative programs. Responsibilities include development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures; oversight of administrative and programmatic resources; and monitoring of outcomes using a data-driven quality assurance process of a program that delivers comprehensive, complex, and specialized professional services that are important program components of the Medical Center and significantly affect the health care provided to Veterans. Program Coordinators serve as Behavioral Health leaders, in active collaboration with disciplinary leads (Lead Psychologist, Lead Psychiatrist, Lead Social Worker, Lead Addictions Therapist, Associate Nurse Executive for Mental Health) provide oversight of professional practice of the Behavioral Health multi- disciplinary staff. The Program Coordinator provides clinical and administrative supervision to a large multi-disciplinary staff, which includes facilitation of treatment staffing meetings, oversight of peer review and quality assurance procedures, as well as management of budgetary and salary resource allocations. The Program Coordinator performs performance evaluations of all staff assigned to the Program, approves time and leave, and oversees daily operations, including budgetary oversight.
