Join our Team at WakeMed Raleigh as a Behavioral Health Counselor
As the Behavioral Health Counselor, you will be responsible for the provision of mental health and substance abuse consultant services at WakeMed. These services include assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, and patient and family education. The Behavioral Health Counselor will assist the physician in determining and facilitating the patient disposition and referrals to treatment and community resources after being discharged. This includes facilitating involuntary commitments as directed by the physician on a case-to-case basis. The Counselor will assist with assuring patient safety for behavioral health cases and participate in hospital and community initiatives that address mental health and substance abuse issues. You will also provide expertise in these areas to the interdisciplinary team including in-service education and support.

3 years of clinical or mental health work and experience with Substance Abuse / Addiction required
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing OR Master’s Degree in Social Work OR Counseling required
Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Licensed Professional Counselor required AND/OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred
Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist preferred
Registered Nurse and Certified Mental Health Nurse required
(Part-Time Days) Saturday and Sunday 7:00 am – 7:30 pm
(Part-Time Nights) Saturday and Sunday 7:00 pm – 7:30 am
Weekend Requirements: None with Full-Time position
Call Requirements: None
