As a Veterans Affairs (VA) Psychologist your opportunities are endless! The Washington D.C. VA Medical Center seeks a full-time, licensed Neuropsychologist to work in the War Related Injury and Illness Study Center (WRIISC). It functions as a second opinion resource for the VA and veterans are flown in from across the nation to be seen. Be part of a multidisciplinary team and provide neuropsychological and other psychological evaluations ranging from screening to evaluations, limited focal evaluations and complete neuropsychological batteries for veterans enrolled in the WRIISC-Washington D.C. program.
60% Clinical; 25% Research and 5% Administrative responsibilities.
Participate and generate relevant research projects which come along with protected research time.
Supervise and directly coordinate responses to consultation requests for neuropsychological evaluations in WRIISC
Scheduling of referred Veterans, supervision of assessments, evaluation of test results, monitoring of test interpretation, review of reports and recommendations.
Maintain outstanding working relationships with the WRIISC team and staff in other departments.
Board licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist from any state
APA approved setting and an APA approved internship plus two years of post-doctorate experience in a service-based setting.

Federal Retirement Plan: VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan. The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution. For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension.
In addition to FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel.
Employees are vested in a federal pension after only 5 years' service.
