Purpose: The Psychologist II (Neuropsychologist) provides evaluation and treatment of child and adolescent patients with a variety of neurodevelopmental, behavior and/or mental health concerns. Provides diagnostic interviews/assessments with patients and/or families, conducts appropriate testing as needed, and provides feedback and recommendations to patients, families, and/ or community agencies/providers. May function as a sub-specialist within the unit or provide specialty services for other programs. Coordinates with care teams to plan behavioral health treatment across levels of care.
Attend Interagency Treatment Team Planning Meetings as deemed necessary.
Choose appropriate test battery, conducts clinical interviews, administers and scores standardized psychological tests and prepares written report of evaluation.
Complete evaluations within 45 days prior to the initiation or continuation of services and must be updated every 6 months
Conduct face-to-face, strength-based psychiatric or psychological evaluations and re-evaluations of children and adolescents. Evaluations will follow Guidelines For Best Practice in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services' format.
Consults and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams regarding patient care and treatment planning.
Diagnosis must be listed in the most recent Diagnostic and Statistical Manual and include Axes I and II (or an ICD-9-CM diagnosis) and III-V.
Modify testing procedures as necessary to accommodate developmental sensory or cognitive status of patient.
Performs psychological assessment with accurate diagnostic impressions.
Provides behavioral health services in using an acute and maintenance model.
Provides behavioral health services, using empirically validated treatments and interventions.
Provides crisis sessions to support and assist patients experiencing acute distress and/or symptoms, as needed.
Report progress assessments and evaluations to treatment team and enter into electronic record (PsychConsult).
Services prescribed must be consistent with Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) Principles: child-centered, family-focused, community-based, multi-system, culturally competent and least restrictive/least intrusive. Prescribed services should be individualized and based on the needs of the child/adolescent and family.
Works collaboratively with other service lines at UPMC and outside agencies assuring continuity of care with referral sources and other providers. May participate in research efforts by assisting in subject recruitment, conducting research assessments or treatment, as directed by supervisor.
Doctoral degree in Psychology (PsyD or PhD) from an accredited institution required.
Three (3) years of experience in Psychology or related field required.
Post-doctoral fellowship in position specific area preferred.
Prior experience working with a child and adolescent patient population highly desired.
Excellent clinical interviewing and assessment/therapy skills to work with patients and families.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Act 34 Criminal Clearance
Comprehensive Crisis Management - CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
Active PA Psychologist License
